Class of 2009: Christine May

I *LOVE* downtown Tacoma for Senior Picture Sessions!!!  I met Christine and her mom in a parking garage at a local high school.  As I pulled in, I noticed I was parked in space 2004 which told me that this space was nearby!  It gave me a good idea...
Christine is a sweet young lady - athletic, easy to talk to, kind and told me she wasn't very photogenic.  Well Christine,  I hope these pictures prove you wrong!
Christine is also *adventurous*.  How do I know this?  I have been wanting to do some senior pictures at this graffiti wall in an abandoned lot.  She was totally up for pulling cars over on the street and trekking up a steep hill just to make the shoot happen!  Thanks for putting up with my craziness, Christine!
I LOVE this picture!!!
We found some great steps...
and a fun blue wall...
As we were shooting, a guy walked by and gave a "thumbs up" to Christine!!
Relaxing at a local park.
Christine is quite the athlete.  And now her track shoes are famous too!
It was such a pleasure to meet you, Christine.  Hope the rest of the year is WONDERFUL!!

Kiss Me: Meagan and Tony

Meagan and Tony were so fun to shoot!! They are counting down the days until September and are trying to figure out the "long distance relationship" thing until them. (One of them lives in Washington, another in Nevada.)  I added the picture below to the post so you could see their wonderful faces because I realized the rest of the pictures are a little more "candid" or artistic.  Enjoy!

What made them so fun to photograph was the fact that they hadn't been together for four weeks...which made my job easy!  I just told them to hang out, enjoy one another and I would capture the moments.  They were so happy to comply to my request....
 I *LOVE* this one!!!
 Caught under the pier...
...and on the beach... the parking lot...
...and by a cool old Mercedes Benz.
There are so many more great pictures from our time together, guys!!!  (Thanks for waiting a couple of days!)  I cannot wait to photograph your wedding in September!!!

Katie is an '09 graduate so we wanted to get her pictures done as soon as possible!  Thankfully, the weather cooperated and it was a gorgeous, sunny day...almost as gorgeous as Katie!  (Doesn't she have great eyes??)
I LOVE this shot!!  It just looks like a golfing picture...
From letterman jacket to beautiful dress...
Katie was so fun to photograph because she was pretty much up for anything I threw at her...including a blue umbrella.
The spring flowers are in full bloom here in the Northwest.  Don't tell anyone, but we went walking through the flower beds to get this one!
On the beach relaxing...hopefully your summer will include lots of days like this, Katie!
Love the laughter in this picture!!
Katie, it was a pleasure to photograph you.  I wish you the best for the rest of your senior year.

My Beautiful Flower

I always feel like it's cheating when a photographer puts her own kids on a blog.  Not that the pictures aren't beautiful, but it's just that they are not technically "clients" and are sometimes photographed under threat of extreme bodily harm if they don't cooperate.  (Which, by the way, I think it is INCREDIBLY difficult to photograph your own children...and slightly aggravating because they know how to push your buttons!)
All that to say, I am going to "cheat" today.  My daughter turned 12 last week and we decided to get some photos marking the big event.  She was very cooperative (she has a flair for the dramatic!) and is, if I do say so myself, quite beautiful!
Ma petite fleur (my little flower)...
We found this great patch of dandelions.  They are as bright and sunny as my beautiful girl.
I love the one of the flower in front of her face.
Love this bench.  It looks like we're in the country...but we're not!!
Downtown Tacoma has so many great places!!  I love these steps!
Happy 12th Birthday, beautiful girl!!  Henry Beecher once said, "Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made...", but obviously he had never met you!!
I love you and love being your mom!!

So we did Ben's yearbook head shots back in the fall...and here he was then...
Here are some from our photo shoot from Sunday.  First of all, I think it was the first time the sun shone in weeks AND it was warm!!  We couldn't have picked a better day!
Ben has a great smile and is quick to laugh.  He has a deep commitment to God and will even be traveling abroad this summer to put his faith into action.  Way to go, Ben!
I am sure your mother feels this way too...but I cannot get over how much you have changed this year!  From this past fall to the young man who stood in front of me this past weekend, I think it is amazing and so exciting!
I think the picture below is one of my favorites.
Ben is also quite the photographer himself.  (I am always honored when photographers ask me to take their pictures...after all we are the most finicky about what we like!!)  We had to catch him in action.
So there are at least a few from our time together...I'm still working on the rest but I wanted to get a few posted.  Also...wanted to let you know it was a pleasure to hang out with you the other day.  I wish you many, many blessings on your travels around the globe!!
