I know I need to do some house work and some editing and take my kids somewhere exciting during spring break and go grocery shopping and, and, and....However, when a friend called to see if we were available on Monday, I told her to come on over.
She and her daughter came over mid-morning and our girls (who are 8 years apart) played and played. We had lunch together, laughed together and most importantly had dessert together! The girls continued to play through the rainy afternoon while we chatted over hot cups of tea and hot chocolate. Plus, you know it is a good friend when you can start doing your laundry and she will help you fold it (and not be offended when she has to move it over in order to be able to sit on the couch!) They ended up staying for dinner - actually cooking it for us - and left around bedtime that night.
After they left, I went to my desk and a bolt of panic went through me...something told me I hadn't really gotten anything done that day. I should answer emails or edit pictures, or all of the above!! But then I looked over at the pile of dirty dishes in my sink and remembered the day. I realized some days should not be measured by "productivity"...but by the blessings, laughter and friendship they bring into your life (and maybe the amount of dishes they leave in your sink)!
If I make that my standard, then it was a wonderfully good day indeed!!
