Breathe {inspiration for wednesdays}

I learned a lesson from my tulips this week.  It is the lesson of leaning and opening.  Here is what I wrote in my journal yesterday morning.

I have a tulip in my front yard that instead of standing upright, leans out over the walkway in order to receive more sunlight.  She stretches herself as she yearns for that which she cannot live without - unembarrassed that she doesn't look like all the rest of the flowers.

(Sometimes, those flowers planted in more shady places, will not look like those planted in full sunny beds!)

The tulip's delicate petaled head remains mostly closed until the light appears.  Then she unfurls her paper thin petals and basks in the warm delight of the sun's rays.  She is never as beautiful as when she is completely unfurled and open to her wellspring of life!

The flower trusts the sun completely.  Opening all of herself to it.

Make whatever connections fit your life...for me, the tulip teaches me to lean into the Source of Life and to open myself to Him.  (And to not worry what I look like to all the rest of the flowers in the process!)
