Breathe {inspiration for wednesdays}

So here I am in the middle of a pretty busy busy that I need to remind myself to take moments to stop and breathe! I wish I could say that it becomes more natural as you practice "breathing, smiling and going slowly", but for me it doesn't. It is just something I simply and intentionally choose to do.

One of the ways I know I am out of balance and becoming too busy is when I don't make time to slow down and have coffee or a chat with a good friend. I start to live with the illusion that I will get back to all that after I get my projects done. The problem is once one project is done another one usually follows right behind to fill the void and I find myself losing connection with the ones that are most important to me...and really my lifelines in this crazy world.

The urgent items on our "to do" lists scream out savagely for our attention, but they do not fill our souls.  We can go around filling the loudest and most immediate requests for our time, but important things get left behind.  And those important things are the stuff that abundant life is made of!!

We need to be reminded to pursue good friends, our spouses, our kids, and deep relationships because these people in our lives are not urgent...but they are the most important!!

Breathe, smile, go slowly....and go have a cup of coffee with a friend!!

I love how you say the urgent items do not fill our souls. I have been so convicted on that lately, but you finally put words to how I was feeling! Thanks!

Sooooo true! Tyranny of the urgent right! Thanks for this Tara... taking a break right now to go do something that fills the soul... probably involves rolling around on the floor with my kids :) xoxo
