Ten Feet and Lots of Kisses {Scottsdale Family Photography}

Oh what sweet, sweet feet!!  They belong to another family that I just LOVE!!  And it seems there are always a few more toes in the picture every time I take a family picture!!

I have a whole lot of history with this family!!  We've attended more summer camps, weddings, and parties than we can count....and we've traveled in more 15 passenger vans than we care to remember!!  We have laughed (A LOT!) together and cried many tears too.  I have held each of these sweet children as infants and shared many a good cup of coffee with Mom and Dad!

This little guy is the newest addition to the family and you can tell he gets LOTS of kisses and attention!!  (But, I ask you....who wouldn't want to kiss those sweet cheeks??)

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
-- Agatha Christie

Such sweet, sweet girls....and a couple pairs of very cute feet!!

Thanks M Family!!  To watch your kids grow up before my eyes is an amazing privilege...and your friendship has been more of an encouragement than you will ever know!!

Oh Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy!! {Gilbert Family Photography}

The first thing you need to know is that I LOVE this family!!  I have known Mom and Dad since they were in high school and I have had the privilege of holding each of these boys as newborns!!  You can imagine what a delight it was to photograph these boys now....and to watch their eyes twinkle with a little mischief!!

I had to put this one in...this is the quintessential boy picture!!  (Photoshoots with boys often have A LOT of jumping, slight blurs and goofy faces!!)

I do love the train tracks, but....

...sometimes it is hard to stay on the straight and narrow!

Big brother loves to play football...and as far as I can see, is very good at it!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one!!

OK...this one too!!  (And I am so grateful for that golden Arizona sun!!)

I am always glad when parents encourage (aka "bribe") their kiddos with some sort of treat if they do a good job during the photo session!  I was just glad I got to be there to see the pay-off!!

The following day, we heard giggling out in the backyard....

I love you B Family!!  It is one of the greatest privileges in life to get to watch you love and parent these three AMAZING boys!!

Class of 2011 - Alex {Phoenix Senior Photography}

 Originally my trip to Phoenix was prompted by this beautiful girl and her family!  I had photographed Alex last year as part of a workshop I did with some photographers, and so her mom got in touch with me during the summer to see if I was headed to Phoenix anytime soon.  I said "Of course"....after all, any chance for some sunshine, warmth and time with old friends is something to make happen!!

Anyway....I had so much fun with Alex and her family (who came with us on the shoot)!!  Check out some of her BEAUTIFUL pictures!!

I love the relationship between her and her brother!!  They are so sweet (and FUN) together!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one, Alex!!

Here is a little of the fun side between Alex and her brother!  Although I am pretty sure that by the last picture, he is about to accuse her of cheating!!  ( would never do that would you??)

Since the family was with us....well, we had to get a few of the four of them!  This first one is my favorite....I think it probably shows a little of how life is actually like!

We found this AWESOME sign downtown and since both parents were born in New York, we thought it was quite the Kodak moment!!  (Or "canon moment" as the case may be!)

Thanks to you all!!  There are so many great images from our time together, it was hard to choose just a few!  (Check out a couple more of Alex up on the Red Thread Facebook page!)

Breathe {inspiration for Wednesdays}

Today, I am unpacking and regrouping from my recent trip to Arizona.  While I had such a great time there, my breath was stolen away by the fall beauty that I encountered as we drove home from the airport.  How does fall happen almost overnight and paint such rich colors on our landscape?  I am always amazed!!

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, the rhythm of Autumn has its effect on me.  I start to think about slowing down and what sort of things, like the trees, I need to give up.  I am grateful for the abundant harvest of joy in my life and I wonder what parts of my life need to rest and lie dormant for a season.

As you enter into whatever Fall season you have, I hope that you will enjoy the picture of the falling leaves - and it will remind you that there is a season to "let go" and enjoy the brilliant colors of all that falls.

Breathe, smile and go slowly.

LOVE...It's a Family Thing!! {Scottsdale Family Photography}

We can't help but goof around a little at a family photo shoot!!  But while it might look like we are just playing, there is actually some serious family time going on!!

I got to photograph the Markos family last year when I was in town, so I was so excited when they called me again!  It is always fun for me to see how big kids have become since the last time they graced my camera!

These two were FULL of giggles and energy!  Big sister even had ideas for me about where I should take some of their family pictures!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture!!  Father-son moment...and those amazing blue makes my heart melt!

It's all about....well, you get it!!

Thank you Markos Family!!  It was so great to see you again!!

What are Little Boys Made Of? {Scottsdale Childrens Photography}

I am in Phoenix, Arizona right now doing some photo shoots and seeing some old friends.  And except for getting a big piece of glass in my foot, it has been an amazing trip!!  Staying in the homes of friends is so much better than staying in any hotel.  Would you like to see the sweet little face that has greeted me most of my mornings here?

I LOVE the smell of the desert after a good rain!!  There is such a great freshness about it....and there are always some great puddles too!  I "kidnapped" little D and told his mom we'd be back in an hour or so.  Little did she know that her washing machine would be working overtime when we got through with our adventure!

We found this wonderful pond...uhh, I mean the desert after the rain.  At first we just splashed, then we dug up the mud from the bottom and after that, we tried to see if we could float.  (I was not quite as wet and dirty as this little dude, but it was close!)  The only thing I feel bad about is that he came home asking his parents when he could "go to the desert" the next time.  I am afraid that when that time comes, he will be sorely disappointed to find that the desert doesn't contain as much water as he thinks!!

After our little adventure, we had to have a treat....of course!!

After all that, I am sure it was time for a nap...but little D didn't think so.  His mom brought out an old tool box that belonged to his great-grandpa and we let him play and explore to his heart's content!!  I think someday, I may ask him to build me a house!!!

After a *short* nap, we did some family pictures by their old Coke cooler.  I'll post a couple of those later, but I couldn't resist putting a few more of this little boy up...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one!!  I guess the fizz was a little too much for him!!

So what are little boys made of??  Blankies and Jammies, Mud and Water, Milk and Treats, Nuts and Bolts....washed down by a big gulp of sweetness!
